Agrofusion, the largest producer of tomato paste in Ukraine, has begun sowing tomato seeds for growing seedlings.
The 12th production season was opened in the Northern Greenhouse Complex, the company said. This year the company increased its total area for growing tomatoes to 7.6 thousand. In 2019, Agrofusion plans to sow 185 million tomato seedlings, which exceeds last year by 18%. The company plans to plant seedlings in late April.
For information, the land bank of the enterprise is 25 thousand hectares, of which 1.2 thousand are allocated for the cultivation of organic crops. Large areas of closed soil allow the company to grow over 190 million seedlings of tomato seedlings during the season. Seedlings ready for open ground are planted in a field where a drip irrigation system is used, which allows saturating the plants with a sufficient volume of water and minimizing the use of fertilizers. Upon reaching ripeness, tomatoes are harvested and sent to processing plants.The company operates in the lands of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, owning 10 branches, 2 greenhouses and 3 tomato plants.
