Representatives of the leadership of leading Russian meat and meat products companies, such as Remit, Miratorg, as well as representatives of Cherkizovo and Velkom, addressed the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Gordeev with a delicate request.
As members of the National Meat Association, all these manufacturing companies carefully monitor the quality of their products and the epizootic situation both in the world and in the country.
And today they are seriously concerned that food and raw materials for meat and dairy products infected with pathogenic microflora and dangerous viruses do not enter the territory of Russia.
In this regard, leading Russian butchers urge Gordeev and his colleagues to prohibit Russian citizens and foreign guests from importing meat and dairy products to Russian territory for personal use.In other words, if a person, having traveled abroad, brings jamon or elite parmesan cheese to Russia to diversify his diet or present the products as a tasty souvenir for his relatives, then he is a potential violator of the epizootic integrity of the Russian Federation.
“We are worried that pathogens of dangerous viruses can enter Russia along with parmesan, jamon and other foreign farm products,” members of the National Meat Association said. However, they emphasize that the ban should not apply to baby food and milk mixtures for children's diets. The appeal is reviewed by the competent authorities. Employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Rosselkhoznadzor consider the offer of the butchers rational and fair.
