An outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was recorded at pig farms of the Khleborob JLLC located in the village of Soshanskoye, Kazatinsky District, Vinnitsa Region. This was reported by representatives of the Kazatinsk State Regional Administration.
On May 22 of this year, the farm notified district veterinary medicine specialists about the death of 11 pigs.
Specialists selected samples of pathological material for research on viruses in the test center of the Vinnitsa regional laboratory of the State Food and Beverage Service. As a result of laboratory studies, it was confirmed about diseases of pigs in ASF facilities.
Over time, it became clear that the inhabitants of the pig farm began to die as early as May 19. On May 23, the number of dead animals reached 24 goals. According to the African swine fever eradication plan, all livestock on the farm must be removed and burned. Today, the farm contains more than 1 thousand pigs.
The version was voiced that buyers could bring the disease to the farm. Although the pig farm JLLC “Khleborob” is located in the immediate vicinity of the village of Soshanskoye, it was decided not to remove pigs from households of local residents.
It was previously reported that the smallest number of ASF cases for 2019 in Ukraine was observed in the Lviv region - only 1 case.
