The government of the Leningrad region made non-standard proposals to pig farmers in the region.
The authorities are ready to pay each pig farmer five million rubles in exchange for refusing to breed pigs and reorganizing their cattle-breeding activities for raising cows, poultry, etc.
Such information about the proposed subsidies was shared by representatives of the press service of the administration of the Leningrad region.
It is known that the region’s authorities propose moving from pig farming to another area of cattle breeding in several stages. The reason for this proposal is simple - pig breeding has an extremely low level of biological defense in the face of an attack of ASF virus from global pig breeding.
In this regard, world leaders are looking for possible solutions to the problem and offer pig farmers to come up with alternative methods of livestock farming. This will not only minimize the risk of breaking the epizootic integrity of the African swine fever virus, but also save farmers from colossal and, alas, inevitable waste.
It will not be superfluous to note that over the past six months in the Leningrad Region they decided to move away from raising pigs and engage in alternative agribusiness at least three hundred twenty-eight farms.
It is noteworthy that the re-profiled farmers concentrated their attention not only on cows and hens, but also on fish farming, beekeeping and raising rabbits.
