According to EastFruit analysts, the purchase of Ukrainian raspberries for subsequent freezing is now carried out at prices that are much lower than expected by producers. And yet, current prices are higher than last year.
Currently, raspberries for further freezing are purchased at prices from 15 to 25 UAH / kg (0.57-0.95 dollars / kg) depending on the region, quality and class. Basically, they buy it at a price of 15 UAH / kg, and you can rarely hear about the price at the level of 25 UAH / kg.
Depending on the area where the purchase of berries takes place, prices vary greatly. So, in Western Ukraine they don’t give more than 15 UAH / kg ($ 0.57) for raspberries, while in the central regions raspberries are bought at 20 UAH / kg ($ 0.76).
Last year, processing enterprises bought raspberries with the goal of freezing at a price of 7 to 12 UAH / kg. But the current prices offered by processors still do not suit producers who hoped to get 20-25 UAH / kg for the berry.
The bulk of Ukrainian farmers who are engaged in raspberry cultivation express their hope that the prices of remont raspberries will be higher than in 2018.
They do not predict falling prices for berries as they harvest, believing that competition between Ukrainian processors has increased, which will be enough to keep prices at the current level.
