During the growing season of 2019, under favorable weather conditions for apricot gnomoniasis, its distribution in orchards is possible in Zaporizhzhya, Kherson and other southern regions, where the culture is traditionally grown.
Specialists of the Institute of Horticulture of the NAAS warn about this. gnomoniasis of apricot was found in the gardens of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. The volume of affected leaves reached 4% and 38%, respectively, with an intensity of disease development of 1% and 9%.
Protection against the disease is the cultivation of resistant varieties of apricot, as well as the destruction of fallen leaves, which are the main source of infection.
For information, signs of gnomoniasis damage are the appearance in spring of yellowish spots on the leaves. With the development of the disease, they become more noticeable, acquiring a brown color and covering the entire sheet. After that, the affected leaf spins and falls.
Stains may appear on the fruit. Because of them, apricots are showered unripe or take an ugly shape. Their flesh dries to the bone and if they do not fall, they remain dry hanging on a tree.
The disease is widespread in the southern regions of Ukraine, as well as in Moldova.
