In March 2019, Brazil’s sales of soybeans abroad may be reduced by approximate estimates by one and a half million tons, or by one fifth compared to March last year.

According to traders, the main factors determining the decline in export sales is the purchase of large volumes of soybeans by China in the United States at the beginning of the year and, moreover, China’s commitment to buy another 10 million tons of product in the United States.
Last year, Brazil demonstrated record export sales of soybeans - 84 million tons; this year, export sales are forecast to decrease to 79 million tons. Also this year, the country's total product production will be reduced by 5% - to 113 million tons.
Since the summer of 2018, the U.S.-China trade war has changed the usual seasonal trends in soybean markets. Previously dominant in the final quarter of the year, American soybeans may take the leading position in sales in the first quarter of this year.
In addition, the downward forecast for foreign supplies of Brazilian soybean was influenced by its large stocks in the country along with a drop in product quotes on the Chicago Stock Exchange.
