The State Regulatory Service of Ukraine approved a decision on indexation of tariffs for railway transportation "Ukrzaliznytsya" by 14.2%. The forthcoming increase in the cost of transportation of goods was reported on Facebook by the head of the public joint-stock company Yevgeny Kravtsov.

The cost of transportation by rail in the country will increase by 14.2%. The new tariffs will come into force on April 1, 2019 after the order is registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and published in the newspaper “Uryadovy Kur’єr”.

Yevgeny Kravtsov said that indexing freight tariffs on the producer price index of industrial products is a common global practice. He expressed a desire to clarify the trend of the gap between the price of freight and the increase in the cost of products.

In addition, he recalled that the PAT "Ukrzaliznytsia" fulfills and will continue to fulfill its investment responsibilities.

The funds received from the increase in freight prices, Ukrainian Railways wants to spend on the purchase of new locomotives, passenger cars and improving the existing infrastructure. It is planned to invest 10.2 billion UAH in updating rolling stock
